Product Description

What is the Photon Blade™? Several months ago a gentleman on the forums came out of nowhere to showcase his experiments with photo-reactive material, in his case, acrylic blades, and how they amplify and alter wavelengths. Basically, it works like a diode laser, taking in one wavelength of light, exciting the photons in the lasing medium then emitting a whole new, brighter wavelength of light. In this case, the first color that was a success was the Photon Green. We worked closely with Tim at TCSS and took what we learned from Mr. Lee's experiments with acrylic and applied it to Poly Carbonate extrusions. It took some work, but the results were mind blowing. It has limits: You have to like green blades.

The Photon Blade™ takes a Blue LED and uses that wavelength of light to excite the photons in the dye which converts the color to a super bright, eerie "Rakghoul" green. Regular, or light blue works the best, but any blue will give the effect. It has a unique aura and corona that I've never seen in a lightsaber blade. It is truly unique and will stand out among other green blades. Depending on your set up, it will also be visible in direct sunlight. The UV rays in sunlight actually help amplify this effect and combine with the blade light. Will it look as impressive as it does under normal indoor lighting? No, but you can tell the whole blade is glowing, and you can even see the flicker and Flash on Clash effects. What does all this mean? It means that with the lighting tech we ALREADY have, you can have the brightest green blade in a production saber just by using this blade. There is about a 30% increase in brightness just from changing the blade on our normal RGB Suncrusher LED. Not only that, but it will look different than any other green saber you own or have seen.

What's the catch? It's currently only in green. Tim and I are working on other colors but it takes time for the R&D. Once this limited run sells out, we will order a larger batch so that Tim can have the raw stock at TCSS and you can buy completed, dual diffused blades from us at VV. Price for a completed Photon Blade™ will be $45 + shipping. Here are some pics though keep in mind, the camera doesn't quite pick up on the unique 'glow' these blades have and the video camera HATED it and was constantly compensating for the brightness increase when I would turn it on. There are two outside shots, one in the full sun, the second in some slight shade.

*NOTE: We do NOT glue our blade diffusion film to the blade. Please be careful when removing the dust cap, and when removing the blade from your saber not to allow the film to fall out. When we first entered this industry, we had noticed several of our competitors glued the film into their blades and had creasing/krinkling of the film right at the point where the blade flexes the most. Saber blades flex, even when just swinging or spinning around. If you keep the film stationary and the blade flexes, the film will crease. Not gluing the film in allows the film to spiral in on itself and flex with the blade. When we developed our blades, we chose not to glue our film in and it turned out that the film will last much longer without creasing. After many hundreds of blades, we can say that this method allows for a long lasting, even blade. We have blades in the house that have seen years of use with no creasing. The only thing is, you have to take care when removing the blade not to let the film drop out and use your included dust cap to keep dust out, and the film in.

  1. this is the blade you have been looking for! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Nov 2017

You've heard the whispers been mesmerized by the videos etched the pictures in your memory banks

So does this hold up in real life or is it some Jedi mind trick ?

Fantasy becomes reality with the photon blade
So awsome it's quickly becoming the go to blade for any hilt in many saber fans collections

I picked up a regular blade for my rgb vv hero
To experience all the colors and a photon blade as well for that extra oomf

Just had to try one out for myself
Becuase it is tinted it will change some colors
Moatly utilizing some deep vibrant greens
And a dark gushing red as well
Some colors seem to blend the two along the edges which is a neat effect

It doesn't have the color flexibility of a standard blade but makes up for that with crazy amount of brightness making greens stand out in the day
And light up the night on camera it looks like a real saber blade !!

For best effect use a deep blue or green
As much as I love having rgb
I don't see myself changing this blade out much
When your ready to construct a new lightsaber
This is the blade your looking for

  4. So bright, my eyes actually hurt 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Oct 2017

It hurts to look at this blade when there's full-on blue LEDs shooting through it. The brightness is way more intense than the pictures show! Highly recommend this blade, just don't look at it directly for too long. The green color is very nice

  5. world of difference 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Aug 2017

The photon blade makes a night and day difference and really punches above its weight. It provides a much brighter looking blade in indoor and outdoor conditions. If you're buying a vader's vault saber then you absolutely should spend that little bit extra to get a photon blade, you won't be disappointed.

  6. If you want the brightest green blade, look no futher! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Aug 2017

Well its true, this blade using my tri cree set up with two blues and one green just made my saber the brightest ive seen in person. Truly worth the money if you love green and have even just one blue led. Also blade come straight as an arrow and diffusion film is cut perfectly which is awesome since it is not glued. A very high quality blade. I like how they finely sand the blade to help with the diffusion even more. Do yourself a favor and buy it already because now that i have it i wondered why i waited so long.

  7. photon blade 5 Star Review

While I can't comment on how the photon blade performs just yet as I don't have my saber, I can review my experience thus far with VV. The customer service at VV is exceptional and they are passionate about providing the best products on the market! I ordered the photon blade and received it within a week. VV has all my future business!!

  8. Beautiful and Bright! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jul 2017

They are being honest when they describe this as a bright blade. I have owned many sabers from many different shops. This blade produces the brightest green I have ever seen using a blue LED. Great purchase!

  9. Blinding! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jul 2017

This blade changes everything! It is very bright, even at the tip. Makes regular amber or green blades look ridiculous by comparison. Gotta love science!

  10. Cameras don't do justice to it 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jul 2017

I was hesitant to buy one of this at first since it was only green. I do like that color for blades, but it seemed too limiting. But man, putting it on my Ardent Elite makes all so worth it. The brightness it gives cannot be caught by the camera. When they say in the videos this blade is in a whole new level, they mean it! Buy it and you wont regret it!
